HVER - The Wesbite

For information to be useful for everyone it has to be accessible. The website www.hver.is does precisely this. The aim is for the website to be interesting and easy to navigate and to give visitors the opportunity to search for content easily. On the search page, you can search for material by using four basic categories; articles, photographs, reports and movies. By checking the "Year" button one can limit the search and search by certain periods. The search engine searches in newspaper articles but other material, including photographs, documents and films are marked with content words (tags).

HVER - HS Orka HF og HS Veitur HF

Hver.is is a historical database of HS Orka HF and HS Veitur HF. Hver.is contains information about the interrelated factors that have made the foundation for the existence of these two companies. The knowledge of history is a precondition for success and progress in modern society. Hver.is is intended for all age groups to get acquainted with history and learn about the great impact geothermal development in Reykjanes has made on its inhabitants.

The database, which is accessible for everyone, contains a variety of written materials and pictures. The content has been collected through the years, and it covers the entire operation period of Sudurnes Regional Heating Company HF, now HS Orka HF and HS Veitur HF. Just like the hot springs are a constant source of energy, HVER is a living source of materials where content is regularly added to the database and will therefore grow and prosper in years to come.

The rapid development of information technology in recent years has called for new methods in preservation of information and public accessibility. Individuals and companies have come to realize the possibilities that this technology offers to preserve their history.

The database is continuously developing and we ask users to please send us questions, comments and ideas on what we can do better for the presentation and content. Email the project manager at hver@hver.is
